Alhaji Sidikki told the media that Obiano’s action was in line with the already established agreement between the South East governors and MACBAN that any herder found in possession of gun should be treated as criminal.

While explaining that his branch of the association has been screening member with a view to weed out bad eggs from its rank, he said:

“My members have been having a good relationship with their host communities, despite some isolated cases of misunderstanding, which he said, was normal in every human existence

“Our interest in the zone was purely economic; no herder is interested in contesting the ownership of land with members of their host communities”

Speaking on the ban of food supply to the Southeast, Alhaji Sidiki defended his association claiming that the ban on foods items from the North to South, was the work of Amalgamated Union of Food and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria and not Miyetti Allah and not Miyetti Allah.

It will be recalled that Governor Obiano while speaking at the women’s Development Centre in Awka on Tuesday, had declared AK-47 weilding herdsmen as terrorists. A similar report from the presidency has also requested security agencies to apprehend and deal with any herdsman seen carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.
