Photo News: Transportation of Cattle By Rail Resumes In Nigeria

 

After many years suspension, Nigeria resuscitates transportation of cattle by rail with the movement of 500 cows and rams from Gusau, Zamfara state to Oko-Oba Abattoir in Agege, Lagos via the Iju train station of the Lagos-Ibadan Train.

The 15-wagon train, which took off from Gusau at about 4am on Friday, arrived at the Iju Train Station at about 3:30pm on Saturday, after stopping in Minna, Ibadan, and Ifo, Ogun state in a 36-hour trip as against the three days it usually takes to transport the cattle by road!
