Many industrial cities in the Southeastern part of Nigeria are beefing up their private security outfits (vigilante) to protect against the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry.

Recently, and following in the footsteps of Onitsha and Azia, Nnewi has rejigged its security outfit by providing the operatives with the needed logistics for effective community policing. This development is in response to the security challenges that seemed to have overwhelmed the conventional security agencies.

The vigilantes who were recently trained are to be deployed all over Nnewi town and business environs to make the exchange of intelligence between it and the conventional security agencies seamless and effective.
