PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | SEPTEMBER 6, 2021

Following persistent insecurity in the northern part of Nigeria, the Nigerian Communication Commission has shut down telecom operations in Zamfara state.

A copy of this decision addressed to the management of Globacom and seen by Pegasus Reporters stated that the decision was advised by the need to allow a mop-up of some of the security challenges in the state. The directives ordered the telecom providers to shut down all operations from the 3rd of September to the 17th in the first instance.

The notice signed by Prof. Umar G. Danbatta is however silent on whether the closure will not be extended then-after.
