“We also wish to appeal to Nigerians to share with us the burden that the constitution of Nigeria did not provide for two vice presidents and that our candidate couldn’t have fulfilled the demands of both sides of the divide at the same time…”

Press Statement: TPN Salutes Nigerians For The Support As APC Unveils Shettima As Tinubu’s Running Mate
The Chairman, Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi, the Director-General, HRM Omobola Bolu-Omoleme and the National, State and Zonal Executives of Tinubu People’s Network, TPN hereby felicitate our great party and our presidential hopeful, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator, Kashim Shettima on the formal unveiling and presentation of the latter as the running mate.
As a formidable member of the All Progressives Party’s campaign organization, we have followed with keen interest the raging debate on the dual Muslim ticket our party is presenting to Nigeria in 2023 and are mindful of the religious diversities of our country. Having perused all the narratives from both sides, we are certain that the words of our indefatigable presidential hopeful Jagaban Bola A. Tinubu are taken as one token of promise that the party must hold dear and fulfil when he is finally, Deo Volente, sworn in as the 16th president of our great country in 2023. Asiwaju personally assured Nigeria of this commitment when he told the nation:
“May I say this to all of you, especially those disappointed in my selection based on religious considerations. I will not and cannot ignore the religious concerns and ethnic sensitivities of our people. I come from a background and orientation of pluralism that understands that the greatest gift contemporary Nigerian leadership needs today is sensitivity to the management of our resources according to the diversity,”
We also wish to appeal to Nigerians to share with us the burden that the constitution of Nigeria did not provide for two vice presidents and that our candidate couldn’t have fulfilled the demands of both sides of the divide at the same time. Rather, should remind us that with our unique Muslim-Muslim team, Nigeria is on the way to a possible Christian-Christian ticket in the nearest future. According to the Jagaban Borgu:
“I am mindful of the energetic discourse concerning the possible religion of my running mate. Just and noble people have talked to me about this. Some have counselled that I should select a Christian to please the christian community. Others said I should pick a Muslim to appeal to the Muslim community. Clearly, I cannot do both”.
We, therefore, wish to use this unveiling ceremony of our running mate to ask all Nigerians, especially those who are not very pleased about our presidential team that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that uncommon Nigeria, people of all faiths, ethnic groups and zones can entrust the sanctification of their aspirations, as a natural God-given right. Hear him:
“Both sides of the debate have impressive reason and passionate arguments supporting their position. Both arguments have good reasons in support of their claims. But the assurances I bring is that as President, I hope to govern this country towards greatness and progress, deploying the tools of modern innovation to resolve seemingly intractable problems that have dogged our country and hindered our match toward greatness. I make this pledge on honoured promise knowing full well that some of the decision may be politically difficult.”
We also wish to thank political groups, organisations, foreign dignitaries and everyone who looks up to the emergence of a new dispensation under the All Progressives presidential hopeful in 2023, for gracing the occasion.
Mallam Oyakhamoh Y. Carl-Abu’Bakar Director, Media & Mobilization, TPN
