“This year, we are desirous of feeding 1,500 needy persons in five different divisions in Lagos State. Our intention is to demonstrate to them that we feel for them and they are not alone. They are an integral part of the society. Ignoring them is at our peril”

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | JUNE 12, 2023
African Refugees Foundation (AREF) empathizes with Refugees and internally displaced persons wherever they are. In reality, they do not drop from the sky, they are products of man’s inhumanity to man.
As part of our regular activities, AREF identifies with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s position on the June 20 status declared as the World Refugee Day.
We feel for Refugees and internally displaced person’s globally, as No Condition Is Permanent.
This year’s theme is ” Hope away from Home’.
Our field survey demonstrated that food is the immediate need of this class of people. They are a big challenge to our security, economic, cultural and social fabrics. We must consider their plight and alleviate their challenges.
A vast majority of them live on the streets and at bus stops. They resume at various identified locations and retire to their abode in the evening. They embrace begging to sustain themselves.
This year, we are desirous of feeding 1,500 needy persons in five different divisions in Lagos State. Our intention is to demonstrate to them that we feel for them and they are not alone. They are an integral part of the society. Ignoring them is at our peril.
Our Food Outreach Initiative is designed to periodically and positively touch the lives of vulnerable persons in our midst.
Be part of us.
The initiative will showcase that nothing is too small to part with uplifting the needy.
The five divisions in Lagos State namely: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe have been strategically captured in our operational framework with a view to expand the scope in the future.
The 2023 Food Outreach initiative is an integrated programme of the Foundation.
Remember, “Refugees and IDP’s don’t fall from the Sky, they are products of man’s inhumanity to man”
