PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | OCTOBER 23, 2024

The People’s Democratic Party’s faction led by the chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, state has been stopped by a Federal High Court sitting in Zamfara State from holding the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The Governor Bala Mohammed faction had approached the court seeking an ex-parte order to hold the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

It will be recalled that some governors elected on the platform of the PDP, led by Mohammed, had earlier moved to remove acting national chairman Amb. Umar Damagum. The move deepened the crisis in the party, as some stakeholders, especially those loyal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, opposed the move.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had also issued an order barring the party from removing Damagum.
