Yearly an Annual Family Christmas Carol Service is hosted by Hon. Justice (Mrs) Ayotunde A. Philips in her Ikeja GRA home with family, friends, and well-wishers to drive home the message of the nativity and the birth of Christ.

Christmas carols are important because they are a way of telling the story of the nativity and the birth of Jesus Christ, as well as expressing the joy, devotion, and awe-inspiring scenes of the nativity.

They also serve to spread joy and warmth during the “ember” months of the year in Nigeria and bring people together to celebrate the Christian message. They have a long and rich history, dating back to Roman times, and have evolved over the centuries to reflect different cultures and traditions.

The 2023 service took place on Sunday 17th of December at Mi-Lord’s residence comprising a gathering of family members, legal luminaries, captains of industry both from the private and public sector, and the media. Among the dignitaries who graced the event were Hon. Justice Laide Olayinka, Mrs Funke Ojo, Professor Stella Williams, Justice Seddy Ogunsanya, and Mrs Enida Fadayomi.

Other dignitaries include Mrs. Tina Igboin, Mrs. Florence Sowole, Mrs. Bolaji Oyewo, and the officiating priest, Rev. Bola Oyeledun of the Methodist Church amongst many other important personalities from near and far.

The event which started at 4:00 pm began with an opening prayer and bidding and carols rendered by the choir of the Methodist Church in attendance. the event was charged with 6 beautiful carols, 9 lessons, and various songs by the choir group.

A highlight of the occasion was the rendering of the Carol “Elu Agogo” in the Yoruba language as the congregation rose to its feet dancing and praising the Lord for the gift of the season.

As the occasion rounded off with blessing and benediction with the hallelujah choruses, one was reminded, once again that the Hon. Justice Ayotunde Philips family: a dedicated and staunch Christian family of repute will also share the blessings of the season of the birth of the christ with as many as are willing to be part of the rebirth that comes with Christmas.
