“Your Excellency Sir, kindly remind your colleagues that the essence of adding Local Government to tiers of Government, is to provide an organized system where councils exercise their power and responsibilities to work together for peace, order and good governance of their municipal districts.”

Dear NGF Chairman,
Your achievements and leadership style has proven that you are one of the great leaders who is taken to true democracy and democratic settings.
Your Excellency Sir, it’s more imperative today for us as a country to practice democracy in the way it should be done.
Your position as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum is no doubt a call whose responsibilities is ambiguous and challenging and as such demands a genuine believe in law, rights and order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I want to passionately appeal to you Sir, to kindly use this your good office to speak truth to your colleagues to let the local Governments have their autonomy.
Sir, Local Government Administration were designed with the purpose of creating order in ways that serve the general public democratically.
The people at the grassroots elects the Chairmen that they have the most faith in to run an effective local government instead of the impositions of Caretakers as displayed by most of your colleagues with the notion of “He who pays the piper dictate the tune”.
Your Excellency Sir, kindly remind your colleagues that the essence of adding Local Government to tiers of Government, is to provide an organized system where councils exercise their power and responsibilities to work together for peace, order and good governance of their municipal districts.
Furthermore, it’s germane to help the President fight this menace before us by reminding your colleagues the duties that council members are expected to perform with effectiveness and efficiency in mind including:
•Developing proposals that are clearly in the community’s best interests
•Planning and providing services and facilities for local citizens’ use
•Building and strengthening the community’s infrastructure
•Making strategic plans for land use
•Raising revenue to enable the council members to perform their duties
•Creating, passing and enforcing local laws
•Fulfilling their duties and functions to the best of their ability
•Not abusing their powers
•Performing other functions related to peace, order and good governance to bring peace in the land
Your Excellency Sir, the above will be difficult to do if you don’t lead by example and demonstrate it to your colleagues.
Help us build a nation where no man will be oppressed by going to bed hungry and Nigeria shall be blessed?
