News: French authorities order Omar bin Laden to leave country

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | OCTOBER 17, 2024

Omar, the son of Osama bin Laden and leader of Al Qaeda, Omar Bin Laden has been told to leave France by the authorities.

The order was given by Bruno Retailleau, France’s new interior minister, who also instructed Omar to remove some statements he made on his X handle which are considered pro-terrorist.

Omar bin Laden “posted comments on his social networks in 2023 that advocated terrorism,” according to Retailleau, who made this claim on X (the old Twitter) on Tuesday.

“As a result, the prefect of Orne issued an order to leave French territory.

“The courts have confirmed the legality of this decision taken in the interests of national security,” he added.

Retailleau additionally attested to his approval of a prohibition against Omar bin Laden’s “return to France for any reason whatsoever.”

Omar, who was raised in Sudan and Afghanistan in addition to his birthplace in Saudi Arabia, went to Normandy in northern France in 2016 after leaving his father at the age of 19.
