Up till 2023, a Jehovah’s Witness young man called Michael had been visiting me for purposes of evangelism and for six months I listened with rapt attention without interjecting. Once, he noticed a pile of the Watch Tower and Awake Magazines by my book shelve and wondered whether I was one of them. That probably made him think I was a ripe fruit to pluck.
On that day, I decided and take the battle to him with this question: “Mike, your people, the JWs said there are over fifty errors in the Bible; how many have been removed and how many remain?”
In reply, he retorted: ‘Where did you get that idea from?’ I repeated the question; and in response, he said, I have been a JW from the cradle and have not come across such a statement.
I stood up, walked and pulled out a drawer attached to my book shelve and brought out and showed the above monogram. He took it from my hand and continued staring at it. For over five minutes he stared at it with bewilderment written all over his face. I guessed he was waiting for the Holy Ghost to tickle him as they are taught in their Sunday School. Alas! Soon he realized that the much-expected holy ghost has nothing to do with human beings; and pleaded:
“Sir, can you loan me this so that I can show it to our leader”
“No, I cannot but you may wish to make a photocopy for yourself” to which he agreed and that was done, he left and to date that was the last time we met. I did not and couldn’t blame Michael because he was not born when his own published the above magazine. Nonetheless, what a pity, truth is sacred, save and unless you know it, you will remain in darkness.

Similarly, the Gospel of St. Mark now ends at verse Sixteen (16) instead of verse Nineteen (19), Why; because verses Seventeen to Nineteen have been EXPUNGED; (deleted, and removed) from the Bible because Bible Scholars now know them (and rightly so) as FABRICATIONS. That is the gospel truth, go and verify if in doubt thereof and you will be agreeably surprised.
“The Revised Standard version of the Bible is an authorized revision of the American Standard Version published in 1901, which was a revision of the King James Version, published in 1611. The first English Version of the Scriptures made by direct translation from the original Hebrew and Greek, and the first to be printed, was the work of Williams Tyndale. He met bitter opposition, He was accused of willfully perverting the meaning of the scriptures, and his New Testament were ordered to be burnt as “untrue translations”. He was finally betrayed into the hands of his enemies, and in October 1536, he was publicly executed and burnt at the stake.
“Yet Tyndale’s work became the foundation of subsequent English Versions, notably those of Coverdale, 1535; Thomas Matthew (probably a pseudonym for John Rogers), 1537; the great Bible, 1539; the Geneva Bible, 1560; and the Bishop’s Bible 1568. In 1582 a translation of the New Testament made from the Latin Vulgate by Roman Catholics Scholars, was published at Rheims. The translators who made the King James’ Version took into account all of these preceding versions, and the comparison shows that it owes something to each of them. It kept felicitous phrases and apt expressions from whatever source, which had stood the test of public usage. It owed most, especially in the New Testament, to Tyndale.
“The King James Version had to compete with the Geneva Bible in popular use but in the end, it prevailed, and for more than two and a half centuries no other authorized translation of the Bible into English was made. The King James Version became the ‘Authorized Version’ of the English-speaking people.
“The King James Version has with good reasons been termed “the noblest monument of English prose’’. Its revisers in 1881 expressed admiration for its simplicity, its dignity, its power, its happy turns of expression… The music of its cadences, and the felicity of its reading. It entered, as no other book has, into the making of the personal character and the public institutions of the English-speaking people. We owe to it an incalculable debt.
“Yet the King James Version has grave defects, by the middle of the 19th century, the development of biblical studies and the discovery of many manuscripts more ancient than those upon which the King James Version was based, made it manifest that these defects are so many and so serious to call for revision of the English translation. The task was undertaken by the authority of the Church of England in 1870. The English revised version of the Bible was published in 1818 to 1885; and the American Standard Version, its variant embodying the preferences of the American Scholars associated in the work, was published in 1901. Because of the unhappy experience with unauthorised publication in the two decades between 1881 and 1901, which tampered with the text of the English revised version in the supposed interest of the American public, the American standard version was copy-righted to protect the text from unauthorized changes.

“In 1928 this copy-right was acquired by the International Council of Religious Education and thus passed into ownership of the Churches of the United States and Canada which were associated with this council through their board of education and publication. First published, as Sir Winston says, in 1611, and then revised in 1881(RV), and now re-revised and brought up to date as the REVISED STANDARD VERSION (RSV) in 1952, and now again re-re-revised in 1971 (still RSV for short).
The publisher (Collins) themselves, in their notes on the bible at the end of their production, say on page 10: “THIS BIBLE (RSV) IS THE PRODUCT OF THIRTY-TWO SCHOLARS, ASSISTED BY AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPRESENTING FIFTY CO-OPERATING DENOMINATIONS.”
