Developing News: Tension grips South Ibie Communities in Edo north as suspected Fulani herdsmen invade Odame and Iyerekhu villages

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | APRIL 30, 2025

Residents of Odame-Ekperi and Iyerehku in Edo North are living in fear as suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly invaded the areas, killing and destroying farmland and house, thus causing widespread tension.

The attacks have left residents including major towns like Auchi and Fugar on the alert while many residents unable to sleep in their homes, are said to be moving to neighboring communities for safety.

In a telephone call with some community members, Pegasus Reporters learnt that they are mobilising the youths to ward of the aggression.

“We are not unaware to the invasion even though we have been expecting it since the Uromi incident. We are mobilising our youths, vigilantes group and hunters to defend our land. We are using this development to ask the federal and  state governments to come and assist our community by stopping these marauders.

“We are mainly farmers in these communities but we they have destroyed our farms and now they are invading our towns and villages. We cannot give up”
