My husband sleeps with his mother twice a week and I’m told I have to live with it shutting my mouth if I must still be married to him or if I value my life. His mother introduced him to me when I just landed from Canada after my master’s degree.

She was my Dean in my first degree in Ghana and when I needed schooling links abroad she connected me to someone who housed me and the person even paid my first semester fees. Meanwhile all this time in Ghana, I never knew she had a son.

Upon my return from Canada, she told me her son was of age and she thought of no one best for him than me since she knew me well enough.

Within 3 months of meeting her son, she organized and sponsored a lavish wedding and that’s how I got into the mess I have found myself.

Let me just summarize. After four kids with this man, his mother decided she was relocating to our house (which she bought for us) so that we take care of her. To me, she looked as healthy as ever so I didn’t think taking care of an already healthy person was going to be an issue, so I facilitated her moving in.

Last week I got home late and wondered where my husband was. Well, my last resort was to check his mother’s room only to find them having hot sex. As a matter of fact, his mother was right on top and they were both moaning.

Even when they realised I was in the room all they both said was “welcome” as they continued for another hour when my husband came upstairs to take a shower. You can imagine how speechless I was for 3 whole days.

On the fourth day, my husband and his mom called me to a sitting and let me know what was kept away from me for years.

Here’s the truth I discovered. So my husband is not the biological child of the woman I know to be his mother. She picked him up as a teenager, cleaned him up, and gave him life; her reward would be for him to give her sex when she wanted.

After some years he told her to allow him to marry and that was when I came into the picture. She recommended me and I fell for it. Their agreement was that since he is now married, they will reduce their sexual practice to twice a week and so now that I know the truth, I have to live with it.

Just before you recommend I should leave the marriage I must let you know this. My mother-in-law is very powerful in society. She gets what she wants when she wants it and how she wants it from whom she wants it. She’s actually in a secret cult with my husband as a junior ranking member, so that makes it worse.

I am hopeless, helpless and shattered. I’m typing this from the phone of the housemaid. You can reach me on this line because she also now knows everything and yes, you can publicize my case. To be honest, I feel dead already anyway!
