Hon. Kenneth Ibe-Kalu Writes On The Raging Issue Of Asiwaju’s Running Mate

“I am aware that the security situation in our dear country heightened our worry, everyone is in pains, as it affects Nigerians of all religions persuasion including foreigners. The dastardly ambition of non-state actors to take over economies of nations of the world is a global concern and an age-long battle”

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | JULY 14, 2022

My take on the raging issue of the choice of Asiwaju’s running mate that is agitating our Christian and Muslim communities is broken into the following points which are personal to me and expectedly, what will benefit the nation as a people.

1. Since 1999, we have been operating on the North and South principles for Presidency.

2. 2023 is the turn of the South to produce a Nigerian President.

3. APC zoned their ticket to the South in compliance with the zoning convention.

4. Both Christians and Muslims from the south contested for the ticket at the primary level.

5. A prepared and competent Southern won the primary election.

6. It is now left to our Northern leaders of the party to choose and present their representatives as the Vice Presidential Candidate options to the Presidential Candidate to choose.

7. The Muslims both in the party and Northern Nigeria are in the majority we know. This means choosing a Christian North will give an advantage to the PDP as the majority of Muslims will rather vote for Atiku.

8. Does it make sense for a party to see danger and yet take that route?

9. When APC wins, it remains Bola Tinubu that is the President, a southern representative.

10. Is it Tinubu’s fault that he won the election? Is it his fault to choose one out of a few Muslims presented to him as the choice of the North?

11. Why are we turning a blind eye to the fact that people have the right to make their own choice.

12. PDP chose Atiku a Northerner to replace Buhari principally because they do not have a formidable aspirant from the south that can attempt to win a presidential election. nobody is crying foul. Labour Party chose Obi and nobody is crying foul, is it because theirs is a crossed ticket? Whose fault?

13. Let it be known that history repeats itself in time, 30 years ago we had Abiola/Kingibe ticket, and one day it may be a Christian/Christian ticket unplanned, who knows?

14. Poverty, prosperity and security breaches do not recognize faith. Both Nigerian Christians and Muslims frequent Dubai, is Dubai ruled by Christians?

15. I believe Nigerians should focus on a leader that will build a solid foundation for Nigeria to develop rather than dividing the country along our fault lines, jointly caused by Nigerians of all religions.

16. I am aware that the security situation in our dear country heightened our worry, everyone is in pain, as it affects Nigerians of all religions persuasion including foreigners. The dastardly ambition of non-state actors to take over economies of nations of the world is a global concern and an age-long battle. We can only win by being positive and committed to nation-building and not by what I see going on on social media where Nigerians keep prophesying doom for their country as if they have another land anywhere in the world to call their own. Even my Christian brothers and sisters forget that God said “you will have whatsoever he saith.”You pray asking God to help Nigeria and the next minute, you curse Nigeria, haba! Nobody can change God’s Word, it is what you sow you will reap. If you sow discord, you will reap crises; if you sow love, you will reap peace. We Must remove the beam in our eyes before attempting to remove the speck in another’s eyes.

17. Politics is essentially a game of calculation, every political party is equal but what can never be equal is our membership and membership is achieved through vision, hard work, unity of purpose and commitment to succeed.

18. May I conclude by counselling non-APC Nigerians to face real issues bordering on progressive governance, prosperity, security and development; these are the issues our next President must tackle and the man for the job is a man of Causes, Asiwaju, Jargaban, the Emilokan of our time, BOLA AHMED TINUBU. And the young man made and prepared to help him to deliver dividends of democracy is H.E Kashim Ibrahim Shettima. Would you rather join me in this cause? Give me a shout on 08033013624.

19. God bless Nigeria. Amen
